Thala Beach Lodge Provides a natural and secluded environment for your relaxation, and is a tranquil haven at the end of a hard days exploring. Whether strolling at sunrise on our private tropical beach or relaxing with cocktails watching the sunset over the coastal ranges, you will be enchanted by your surrounds.
Your room is nestled among the naturally existing Eucalypt forest, which has been preserved carefully during construction. We have a wide range of forest types, which provide habitats for some extraordinary Birds, Plants and animals. All buildings are up in the tree canopy, providing a magical and unobtrusive relationship with the natural world surrounding them.

Thala Beach Lodge is located on the northernmost headland of a 2km stretch of untouched coastline. The views from our restaurant are panoramic, taking in the Far North Queensland coast from Double Island to Cape Tribulation, and from the sparkling waters of the Great Barrier Reef to the World Heritage Forests that cover our coastal ranges.
Thala is located 10 minutes, by regular shuttle, from Port Douglas. All tours in the Cairns, Port Douglas area pick up at the Lodge. All local specialist tours can be arranged for you after arrival.

Our Accommodations are in individual bungalows set around the northernmost headland of the beach. These private ’residences’ are linked to the restaurant, gallery, Adventure Desk, Rock pools, and beach by leafy pathways through the gardens.

There are many very personalised and exciting experiences that we recommend ranging from diving on the Great Barrier Reef to expeditions into the Rainforests or the exploration of Outback Cape York (Quinkan Country) with its spectacular Aboriginal rock art galleries. Our trained staff pride themselves on organising truly specialised and memorable experiences that capture the essence of this wonderfully diverse region of Tropical Australia.
BIRDWATCHING: We are host to more than 101 species of Bird and 34 varieties of butterfly right here on site at Thala beach Lodge. Many of these you will see eye to eye during meals at our restaurant which looks into the treetops and out over the Coral Sea.
